Autumn Salad

Mom, and Alisa...and anyone else who would like to make this most wonderful salad...

This is the salad Rob and I made for our guests on Easter.  

It's a recipe from Danny Ainge's wife (just an interesting trivia fact).

It is seriously so good.  Rob said he could eat it everyday-which is saying a lot.

Autumn Salad:

Salad:
-your choice of lettuce (I used a romaine mixture that came in a plastic container)
-1 diced tart apple
-2 sliced pears
-crasins
-toasted pecans (I used candied walnuts)
-shaved fresh Parmesan, feta, or goat cheese (I used goat)
-(chicken if you wish to make it an entree)

Dressing (This makes a lot.  I halved it, and still had extra)
-1 cup sugar
-3/4 cup raspberry vinegar or red wine vinegar
-2 t. salt
-2 Tbsp prepared mustard
-2 Tbsp poppy seeds
-1/2 red onion
-1 1/2 cup oil

Puree in blender

Cape Cod

Yesterday afternoon, Rob and I cruised over to Cape Cod.  We had never been before, and were delighted by the charming neighborhoods, the relaxing feel, and the beautiful beaches.  

::I really think this was one of the happiest days of Rob's life since we got to cruise in a convertible.  While we were driving, he shouted "I'm so happy.  This is so exciting."  It was funny/cute::

::This was the coolest beach we found.  It had sand cliffs along the whole thing and those long, wispy grassy things that you picture on an East coast beach::

Rob and I were invited to go to a Red Sox game last night.  I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I actually love going to baseball games.  It was a beautiful night, we had sweet tickets, and we had lots of fun.

that sells vintage/antique car parts.

it's phone/internet order, so there's no store front.

we get to talk with people all over the world,

which is kind of interesting and fun...

and i don't know what else to say.

i never in my wildest dreams thought i'd be doing this, 

nor did rob,

but we like it, and it's going well.

These days, a big part of my life is car parts.

They are an even bigger part of Rob's life (as he has to learn all about all of them).

Neither of us really have a passion for car parts, old cars, or anything of that sort.  

But that is where life has taken us. 

Some customer wanted to see pictures of these things... they might be hubcaps...I'm not sure.  But he wanted to see what they looked like before he purchased them.  So Rob snapped these pictures on his i-phone, and we emailed them over.  

Anyways, I just thought that the pictures were really neat (because of the reflection, not because of the product, haha).  It's like a little mirror into our life at work.

::The reflection shows our place of work- Andy's house (the previous owner of the business).  He lives in a huge, old, beautiful, blue house.  And if you look close, you can see Rob :) ::

::This shows one of the work areas/areas where lots and lots of old car parts are stored.  It's a very unique work environment, to say the least.  If you look close, you can also see Rob, and 2 employees- Steve and Dennis::

battle day at the bridge

In honor of Patriot's Day (which is Monday), I attended a Revolutionary War reenactment at The Old North Bridge on Saturday morning.  It  was certainly a thing to do/see if you live in this area.  

Mr. Rob wanted to come along, but couldn't join me because he had to work all day.  Poor guy.  Even though I would have much rather had him there, luckily for me, I don't mind having adventures on my own. 

So, on Saturday I woke up earlier than anyone should wake up on the weekend, drove the short drive to Concord, and was literally one of the first people to arrive at the "battle scene".  I thought it would be so crowded by the time I got there, but nope.  So I set up my blanket at the best seat in the house, read my magazine while I waited, and then thoroughly enjoyed watching the Colonial troops kick the Brits trash.  ;)

i was on hiatus

not really.  just been working. a lot.  but here's a couple of recent pictures- the only new ones on my camera.

 

Woke up to this on April Fools Day-just when we thought Spring was here, Mother Nature pulled a fast one on us.  Our poor flowers! Thank goodness it was all gone by the next day.

Rob would probably not be pleased if he knew I posted this picture in his bathrobe. haha.  I kind of pressured him to buy it because I think bathrobes are amazing.  But anyways, on Conference Sunday, Rob made us yummy homemade waffles, I poured us yummy glasses of orange juice, and we watched Conference in our bathrobes.

first bike ride of the season

last week we brought out our matching bikes, Lola and Teddy and cruised around the area.  it was pretty fantastic. 

it really was a pretty warm day (relatively), despite the snow.

started off with a flooded basement. not fun. but it turned out okay and none of our stuff was ruined.
